Tank vs. Tankless Water Heaters.

They eventually achieve the same thing, but there are big differences between tank and tankless water heaters. All Home Plumbing wants you to make an informed decision. Whatever you choose for your Chattanooga area home…All Home Plumbing carries both. That should give you some peace of mind as you decide what is best for your family.

Storage tank water heaters work on a simple principle…heat rises. That was proven centuries ago. There are a bunch of inner components that work together to heat the incoming cold water. A tankless water heater very simply heats water as you need it. It’s more efficient, but MORE expensive initially for a reason.

All Home Plumbing, your Chattanooga area plumber, stocks tankless, gas, and electric water heaters. The plumbing experts at All Home Plumbing can help you decide what’s best for your Chattanooga home. The answer to all of this is simple. Just call All Home Plumbing at (423) 598-1466. Where Will You be in Twenty Years.

Maybe you are not sure about the next 20 days let alone the next 20 years.  What about your water heater?  Where do you think it will be in two decades?  If it is a traditional model it will end up in a Chattanooga area landfill long before that.  But, what about a tankless water heater?  Could it last until the 2040’s?

The answer is an emphatic yes!  Most tankless water heaters have a life expectancy of more than twenty years.  Better than that, they also have easily replaceable parts that extend their life by many more years.  Now, you don’t have to be Albert Einstein to know that is TWICE as long as traditional storage water heaters!

When you add up all the other benefits of a tankless water heater it may be time for you to consider going tankless.  Storage or tankless, you can always count on All Home Plumbing to install it perfectly in your Chattanooga area home.  When it is time to consider a new water heater just call Chattanooga plumber All Home Plumbing at (423) 598-1466.

What is that Small Tank Hanging off of my Water Heater.

Here is what that is.  It is an expansion tank installed on the water supply pipe to the water heater.  The purpose of it is to deal with the thermal expansion of water as it heats up in the water heater.  It prevents water pressure from getting too high.  IF water pressure gets high enough it can damage valves in plumbing fixtures, joints in supply pipes and even the water heater itself.

Did you know that Thermal expansion always occurs in water heaters?  Like most substances in nature, water expands as it is heated.  This happens over and over every day inside of your water heater after some hot water has been used in the house, and cold water flowing into the water heater is heated.

We wanted you to know more about the purpose of this invaluable appliance sitting all alone (and working hard) in your garage.  At All Home Plumbing we know all about water heaters in the Chattanooga area.  Eventually they need to be repaired or even replaced.  When that time comes call us at All Home Plumbing.  That’s (423) 598-1466.

Gas vs. Electric.

It’s a question that homeowners have grappled with for decades.  Do I have a gas water heater installed or an electric one?  Depending on your local utility costs gas water heaters are usually cheaper to operate.  Understand, that they cost more than electric ones, but because of the energy savings they usually make that up in about a year.

The majority of gas water heaters operate with a pilot light.  They heat water even when the electricity is off.  Because the gas one’s heat water at a ratio nearly twice as fast as electric models, if you rely on a gas water heater for bathing during an outage it will be an economical choice.  Just one of several things to consider.

The choice is yours, the professionals who will help you make that choice in the Chattanooga area are the ones at All Home Plumbing.  All Home is a plumbing company that will troubleshoot, repair, and install gas, electric, and even tankless water heaters.  Give them a call today at (423) 598-1466.

Finding the Source.

This is not only good advice for epidemiologists and archaeologists, but for those of us who own a home in the Chattanooga area as well.  If you just noticed that your water heater is leaking it is important to find the source of the leak.  If the leak occurs at the bottom of the unit, then the first place to check is the drain valve and pressure relief valve.

All water heaters have a drain located near the bottom of the unit.  A leaking drain valve is identified by moisture either out of the drain opening or from the valve itself.  You can also remove access panels and inspect for moisture around the insulation.  This can get messy and even cause more problems if not done correctly.

To have your water heater checked professionally and be given an honest assessment of repair or replacement options Chattanooga area home owners have counted on All Home Plumbing for years.  Josh and his crew have been known for their expertise in the inspection of water heaters all over our diverse area.  Just give them a call at (423) 598-1466.

The Reliable Old Water Heater.

It is the bastion of appliances isn’t it?  That hard-working giant continues to heat our water to a desired temperature year-in and year-out.  It seems like it will never get old, but eventually it needs to be replaced.  Hey, you could move every five to seven years and perhaps you would never have to replace your trusty water heater.

Here are some signs that it is about to give out –

1.  Age…look at the serial number.  It shows the born-on date.
2.  Is your water looking rusty?
3.  Is it suddenly making noise?
4.  Water is forming at the base.

A reliable water heater is an absolute necessity.  Be aware of its shelf-life and don’t let an old faulty one hamstring your household.  When that old unit has seen its better days, it is time to call All Home Plumbing.  They are Hixon’s and Chattanooga’s reliable water heater repair and replacement professionals.  Keep the number handy (423) 598-1466.
