Installing a Water Meter.

You already know that water meters are used by water companies to monitor the water usage at a home or business. Even when a qualified licensed plumber in Chattanooga installs your new water meter, the water company will probably send a representative to ensure that the installation has been done correctly.

Here are some of the steps to take for successful installation –

  1. Contact the water company and follow the instructions.
  2. Find the water supply and the shut-off valve.
  3. Install the water meter on the inlet pipe.
  4. Wrap Teflon tape around the threads on the connection point.
  5. Reopen the valve on the water supply pipe.

Installing a brand new water meter at your home or business in the Chattanooga area is probably NOT a DYI job! It is something that we do all the time. We are Chattanooga’s plumbing company All Home Plumbing. For more than 20 years we have handled plumbing emergencies and routine maintenance and installation in Chattanooga. Call us at (423) 598-1466.

Who Do You Trust?

We doubt that you recall the old television game show hosted by the late great Johnny Carson in the late 1950’s. Check it out sometime on YouTube. It is an American classic! In the plumbing world that question takes on a much more important meaning…especially since 2020 has made some plumbers more desperate.

Here are some things to discover before you hire a plumber in the Chattanooga area –

  1. Ask to see their license, registration, and insurance.
  2. Inquire if they have references.
  3. How many years of experience do they possess?
  4. What are the payment expectations?

You can confidently check all the boxes when you call All Home Plumbing of Chattanooga to come into your home to fix your plumbing on a routine or emergency basis. They were around for a long time before the pandemic and they will be here for many years to come. Call All Home Plumbing in Chattanooga with supreme confidence at (423) 598-1466.

The Speed of a Jet.

Do you have plumbing that is constantly acting up and you live in the Chattanooga area?  Perhaps you find yourself dealing with a seemingly endless string of clogs?  Do you live in an older home with a plumbing system that has seen better days?  If only there were some way to restore your pipes and keep them clean into the future.  The answer may be sewer jetting!

Sewer jetting also known as hydro jetting is an innovative relatively new method that we use to maintain the health of the plumbing system and to completely clear out the inside of pipes…yes, even stubborn and hazardous main line clogs.  Plumbing snakes and chemical treatments may take care of a minor buildup, but it may be only a temporary fix.

If you call us at All Home Plumbing our expert technicians will determine the right method to use for your particular clogging problem in your Chattanooga home.  It is just one of the many plumbing services that we provide.  Visit us on the web at allhomeplumbing.com to see the others, then give us a call at (423) 598-1466.

How Does Home Repiping Work?

Homes in the Chattanooga area that were built before 1970 often have pipes made of outdated material, such as galvanized steel.  What happens is that these types of pipes tend to corrode after 40-50 years of service.  If you’ve already started to notice an increase in leak problems, then you are probably in need of repiping.

How is whole-house repiping done?  Repiping sounds like a big job, and it is!  To precisely locate the pipes makes one stage easier, which is excavating to reach the old pipes with as little disruption to building material as possible.  To access pipes down in the floors, plumbers will approach from the ceiling below to avoid having to pull up floorboards.

It is a necessary process that requires plumbers who have years of repiping experience.  In Chattanooga those plumbers are a part of the team representing All Home Plumbing.  They are the Chattanooga experts at repiping, fixing leaky faucets, or clogged toilets, etc.  Just give All Home Plumbing a call anytime at (423) 598-1466.

When Drains Slow to a Stop.

The drains in your home are slowing down, next they will back up and then you’ve got a real problem on your hands!  Sometimes you can clear up the problem without having to call a professional plumber.  Specialized plumbing tools used to combat clogs are available at any hardware store or home center in the Chattanooga area.

It all begins with a good old plunger.  If the plug is further down the drain line the next tool you can try is a cable auger or a plumber’s snake.  Cable augers are available in lengths up to 100 feet however a 25-foot model will suffice for most household drain clogs.  You may have to rent an electronic power auger for the super deep drain clogs.

Perhaps this is the important point to remember.  If you have made repeated attempts to clear a clogged drain call a pro!  The right plumber for the job is one of the team at All Home Plumbing.  Josh and his team provide fast, efficient, guaranteed drain cleaning to homes and businesses around Hixon and Chattanooga.  Call them today at (423) 598-1466.

What is a Backflow Device…and Why do I need it Tested?

If you are a homeowner in the Chattanooga area you should know about the importance of a backflow device.  A backflow device is sometimes known as an RPZ valve.  What does RPZ stand for?  It means Reduced Pressure Zone.  This device is installed onto your plumbing system to protect your drinking water and the city water supply from contaminants.

In our area RPZ valves are required when a house or building is equipped with an irrigation system.  If there is a water leak in the house, house water service break, a break in the city water main, hydrant flushing, or excessive hydrant use due to an area fire, the water pressure in the house or city water mains can drop lower than the water pressure in the systems.

At All Home Plumbing we specialize in backflow testing.  Fortunately for you, we have a master plumber that is a certified backflow technician and has over two decades of experience.  RPZ testing is essential whether it is an emergency or not, it eventually will be!  Call us today at (423) 598-1466.  We specialize in plumbing problems throughout the Chattanooga area.

Your Garbage Disposal is Screaming Hallelujah!

That would get your attention, wouldn’t it?  The truth is your garbage disposal has probably taken quite a beating this summer with the kids out of school.  Heaven only knows what they may have put down there the last couple of months.  Now, something may be stuck in there or the unit may be humming.

Of course, you are aware that garbage disposals, like any other frequently used kitchen appliances, require occasional repairs and maintenance to ensure proper functioning.  If something is stuck inside you may need to grab a flashlight, an Allen wrench, or something called a jam wrench.

Why Hire Someone who is Licensed and Bonded.

These words are bandied about all the time.  They are used so much that we may come to ignore them, or not think that they are all that important.  When a plumber is licensed and bonded what exactly does that mean?  You may be able to get a job done cheaper by a weekend plumber, but the consequences may be dire!

The difference between licensed and unlicensed is huge.  Let’s bring it down to basics.  A plumbing license is essentially a certificate that a plumber has sufficient education and training – and legal permission – to offer plumbing services in your state (or states).  It also means that the plumber is accountable to the regulatory board that issues the license.

Is it worth a few extra dollars to keep from wading through water up to your knees?  You bet it is!  That’s why any plumbing job in the Chattanooga area is in capable hands when you hire Josh and his team at All Home Plumbing.  Call the office in Hixon for reliable repairs from a firm that is proud to be licensed and bonded.  Keep the number handy (423) 598-1466.

Aaangie…Aaaangie.

Remember the Rolling Stones song?  These days, when we think of Angie, the list may be the first thing that comes to mind.  Comments on Angie’s List are important measuring sticks sometimes when hiring a new plumbing company.  So, what does the local version in the Chattanooga area have to say about All Home Plumbing?

Here are some excerpts…All Home Plumbing did a great job!  (The plumber) “was very positive and polite and came back promptly and replaced the pump.  (He) explained each charge carefully.  Despite being in a very difficult situation, we were very pleased with the work that was done”.  That sounds good, doesn’t it?

All Home Plumbing serving plumbing needs in and around Chattanooga and the Tri-State area have been getting rave reviews such as this for many years…and deservedly so!  Whenever you have a plumbing problem in our area there is one name and one phone number to remember.  It is All Home Plumbing at (423) 598-1466.

Get Back Backflow.

When a backflow problem grips your household, it will definitely get your attention.  This is not just a leaky toilet, or a clogged disposal, this is a potential crippler!  Backflow is a term in plumbing for an unwanted flow of water in the reverse direction and it can be a serious health risk that needs to be dealt with quickly and completely.

This nasty event is caused by cross-connections that have the potential of allowing contaminants into the drinking water system. Back siphonage can occur when the pressure in a tank or water trough is lower than the water system's pressure. Yet another cause of backflow is back pressure.  It happens in our area all of the time with our hilly terrain.

When backflow rears its ugly head in the Chattanooga and Tri-State area it is time to call in a real professional.  That is backflow plumbing expert Josh Casey and his team at All Home Plumbing.  Patty takes your call and schedules an appointment for a visit from Josh and his crew.  Just give her a call with any plumbing problem at (423) 598-1466.

Down the Drain…Every Time.

We take our home or business’ drain system for granted.  Why not?  They should just continue to do their jobs…drain…for years and years.  It really is one of the most crucial aspects of home maintenance…keeping your drains clean and clear.  You know the drill, when drains and water pipes fail to work properly, it's impossible to cook, clean or do much of anything.

Over the course of home or business ownership, you are bound to need some sort of drain maintenance.  Like most things, upkeep will reduce the frequency of problems.  Home drain cleaning can only be done effectively by a professional plumber if that individual knows the kind of pipes that connect to your sinks.

Enter Josh and his professional team of plumbers at All Home Plumbing.  Twenty years of experience doing anything makes you better at it.  That is what Josh brings to your drains.  If you maintain the system, you will have better long-term results.  Please call us for an in-home inspection in the Hixon and Chattanooga area at (423) 598-1466.

There are Roots in Them Thar’ Hills.

Indeed, there are!  If you live in the area surrounding Chattanooga, TN you probably live on a hill.  In doing so, we are more prone to root system drain back-ups than most places in the country.  As an example, you may have had your shower, sink, or toilet suddenly run slower.  The truth is, you may have roots in your drainage system.

To find the culprit you need a professional with the proper equipment.  These may be things that you have never seen (nor, would want to.).  Tools such as drain cables, basket strainers, tub stoppers, rebuild plugs, and shut-off valves.  It’s a good thing that someone in Eastern Tennessee is in the business of yuck!

That’s OUR business.  We are Hixon’s and the Chattanooga area’s drain cleaning professionals.  We are All Home Plumbing and as the name implies, we do the job for you whenever you have a plumbing need.  Please call me, Josh Casey and I or one of my crew will be there to fix the problem ASAP.  That phone number is (423) 598-1466.
